Supportıng women to feel safe, grow and rıse
We support migrant women to build safety, confidence and independence, and help organisations create safer, more inclusive communities through trauma-informed, and evidence-based practice.
why we exist
Many migrant women face barriers that make it harder to access support, build confidence, and feel connected to their communities.
Research and frontline experience highlight challenges including:
-
Language barriers
-
Isolation
-
Loss of professional identity
-
Financial dependency
-
Limited access to culturally responsive support
In South West London, there is currently no specialist Turkish-speaking Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) service.
Umay was created to help close this gap through prevention, early intervention, and community-based support.
